Terms of Service for ScreenBuddy

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ScreenBuddy (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

The App is owned and operated by J13 Digital LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and J13 Digital LLC.

2. Description of Service

ScreenBuddy is a digital wellness application that helps users manage their screen time through:

  • Scheduled app blocking

  • Mindful pause system with countdown timers

  • Daily pause limits (3 pauses of 15 minutes each)

  • Quick block functionality

The App uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to provide these features.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ScreenBuddy. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with your parent or guardian to ensure they understand and agree to these Terms.

4. Account and Subscription

Free vs. Premium Features

  • ScreenBuddy may offer both free and premium features

  • Premium features require a paid subscription through the Apple App Store

  • Subscription details and pricing are displayed in the App and App Store

Payment and Billing

  • All payments are processed through Apple's App Store

  • Subscription fees are billed according to the plan you select

  • Your subscription will automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period

  • You can manage and cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings

Refunds

  • Refund requests must be made through Apple's App Store

  • We cannot process refunds directly as Apple handles all payment processing

5. User Responsibilities

By using ScreenBuddy, you agree to:

  • Use the App only for its intended purpose of managing personal screen time

  • Not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the App's functionality

  • Not use the App for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose

  • Not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App

  • Keep your device secure with appropriate passwords or biometric locks

6. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference, explains that:

  • We do not collect any personal data

  • All app data is stored locally on your device

  • We have no access to your usage patterns or blocked app information

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of ScreenBuddy are owned by J13 Digital LLC and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial use only.

8. Disclaimers and Limitations

No Medical Advice

ScreenBuddy is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. It is a productivity tool and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical or psychological advice.

App Functionality

  • The App requires proper iOS permissions to function correctly

  • We cannot guarantee the App will work if iOS permissions are revoked

  • The App's effectiveness depends on proper setup and consistent use

  • We are not responsible if users find ways to circumvent the App's restrictions

Device Compatibility

  • ScreenBuddy requires iOS 15.0 or later

  • Some features may not be available on all devices

  • We recommend keeping your iOS updated for best performance

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND

  • WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED

  • WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES

  • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless J13 Digital LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms

  • Your use or misuse of the App

  • Your violation of any laws or third-party rights

11. Modifications to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the App at any time

  • Update these Terms at any time

  • Change subscription pricing with appropriate notice

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the App will cease immediately

  • All data stored locally on your device will remain until you delete the App

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.

14. Apple-Specific Terms

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • These Terms are between you and J13 Digital LLC, not Apple

  • Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the App

  • Apple is not responsible for any product warranties

  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App

  • Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and J13 Digital LLC regarding ScreenBuddy.
